I had the chance to saw him in paris in last january and trust me, he’s really back! more talented than before! He still has HIS voice, wich was the first most important thing, more, I did some progress with it! he pass some BASS notes that he didn’t in the past! yes, like his inspiration mentor, Prince. Other good evolution, D’ plays elec guitar now! Not like Jimmi Hendrix but it’s more than honorable! For the new songs we eared, let me just say one thing, I don’t know if everybody goona understand them, but for me, there are pure beauties, pure true songs, with his unique way of writting and composing! Song like “The Charade” sounds like a David Bowie thing, “Suggar Daddy” is a BOMB, back in the 20′s piano/rythm loops and the way he wrote the lyrics is a real dedication to early funk! “Ain’t That Easy” is the most ‘…Rock’ song, with a good hook. “Another Life” is a ballade where D’ only sing on very high voice, makes me remind the last Badu album, very trippy! So yes, I guess he’s in a good mood and a good health to be back on top, and that’s so goooooooood! For him, for us, and most important, for music(and r’n'b music) like You said! This electro/hiphop/dance/r’n'b (personally, I hate it!) already go round in circles! I watched frank ocean on youtube in live, excuse but he has the voice that 10000 others singers have! like it or not, D’Angelo does REAL music, with real musicians (pino palladino and chris dave were from another planet in paris!) and real motivations!
