Germany’s finest (and we do mean finest) Joy Denalane is releasing her new LP Maureen today (cop via the iTunes button below) and Okayplayer is proud to give you another taste of its soulful goodness with this exclusive footage of Joy and crew putting down the title track in a live studio session. And by “putting it down” we mean putting the stamp down, holding forth for 5 minutes of soul-baring vocal power that could give Mary J. Blige and Jazmine Sullivan a run for their combined money. If you’re still unmoved at the end of that 5 minutes, consider counseling. Then watch the LP trailer after the jump to get a more complete sampling of what you gets for your money on Maureen; love, freedom, afrobeat and soul. Not bad for under 10 dollars, really (click the button below to purchase).

i remember back in 2005 at a common concert in berlin, she was standing in the crowd right in front of me. she sang the hook for the remix of “go” for the european market i believe, so she was down with the whole album. when common played one of the last songs of his set (i believe it was “they say”), she started singing along as loud as she could, which was amazing!

    Very nice track.
She has a great voice but the comment about giving Mary J. Blige a run for her money is quite bit Over Zealous in trying to generate buzz for her. I would purchase the cd!
Her background singers need a little more practice.

the drums are too loud in the beggining in my opinion and her background singers arent great just my opinion
