While we were celebrating our 7th Annual Holiday Jam last night, we paused in the constant merrymaking and toasting to the holiday season for just a moment--to raise a toast to the kick off of Okayplayer's 15th Anniversary! Yes, Okayplayer was founded in December 1998 which means 2013 is our 15th year on this here planet! (and by planet, we mean the internet) and now that we are old enough to get a learner's permit and drive (with adult supervision, of course) we intend to celebrate this bad boy all year long. To get an idea of what exactly we're supposed to be doing with all this newfound freedom (and all these hormones raging through our body) we asked roughly a gazillion of our most trusted, diehardest Okayplayers to tell us what they were doing when they were 15. Murs was a sneaky motherf*cker, Phife Dawg had just started writing rhymes, and DJ Premier was cool with the cops (on his block, anyway). Erykah Badu, Big K.R.I.T., Common, Black Milk, Res, Young Guru, Pharoahe Monche, Roy Ayers, Alice Russell, Chuck D, 9th Wonder, Maseo, James Poyser, Diamond D, Raheem DeVaughn and Rapsody (whew, that's a lot of boldface names) all had some words of wisdom for us, too. Watch this special Anniversary edition of Okayplayer TV to find out what they all were doing at 15--and watch us (now) to see find out what we'll be doing. (Big things. You can't tell us nothing).
