The Year In Review: Okayplayer's Top 15 Songs Of 2015
As we noted in our year-end look at 2015’s best albums, music was full of impressive outings from the likes of Drake, Kendrick Lamar and celebrated newcomers such as Thundercat and GoldLink. Messages about sexual liberation, angst against police brutality, brokenhearted-ness, and what happens when your girl starts wearing less and going out more adorned the airwaves and internet.
With sounds so spacious and fresh, these tracks allowed a new generation of artists to step up into the spotlight and connect in a way that was original and made an impact in the format. Artistry continued to be pushed to the limits with more and more acts attempting to fill their works with pure heart, emotion and impact that would not only crush records on-and-off the charts, but it would set into motion just how powerful music is during this time of human strife and confusion.
This list isn’t meant to be in ranking order, might we add. It is an attempt to salute the top songs of the year, so, without any further ado — here are Okayplayer’s Top 15 Songs of 2015.
Happy New Year to you all!
