SBTRKT and Sampha put down a rousing rendition of “Hold On” in MTV’s “Push Warehouse”and the rawer, warmer and more organic feel that naturally comes with a live performance really brings out the soulful quality of the song–and reveals what a radio-ready ballad it could be. And why the hell not? If rappers and pop artists can cash in on the IDM craze by cluttering up the radio with their endless untz-untz strobe-light anthems, why can’t the few truly progressive electronic artists making jams colonize ‘em right back? Watch out, Rihanna, Usher and will.you.ams–SBTRKT is gainin’ on ya. And he is not LHFAO.
