D’Angelo emerges this evening for what may be his first appearance on a public stage since the 2013 Brothers In Arms tour with Questlove of The Roots, to talk shop with author, filmmaker (and homie) Nelson George at the Brooklyn Museum. The elusive soul music icon will sit down to discuss his life in music with George during an in-depth interview billed as one of the premier events at the Red Bull Music Academy Festival in New York City; the month-long series of events includes lectures, live music, art installations, club nights and more in celebration of the 2013 Red Bull Music Academy class held in NYC. The exclusive festival event sold out shortly after tickets went up for sale on the RBMA website, leaving many fans out of luck or clamoring to locate spare passes for sale. NPR has stepped up to the plate with an exclusive live stream of the event, which will allow fans from around the world to hear the conversation between the revered artists in real time. The stream will be accessible from the NPR Music homepage, the NPR Music iPad app and via NPR affiliate station sites across the web.
The public radio giant not only offers the the live stream, but increases audience engagement by asking fans to tweet their questions with the #AskDAngelo hashtag in order to participate in the post-show Q&A. Which begs the question: What would you ask D’Angelo? Please note, the question ‘when are we going to get a new D’Angelo album?’ is not a valid question.
Click the link below to access the live stream at roughly 7PM EST via NPR and in the meantime scroll down to watch Questlove and D talk about Prince on OKP TV in a rare D’Angelo on-camera interview.
