After nearly three years of label changes and continued delays the lovely and talented Nikki Jean just released her debut album, Pennies In A Jar. Nikki has been a longtime friend of The Roots Crew, and you may be familiar with her work as a member of the now defunct Philly crew Nouveau Riche or her performance on Lupe Fiasco‘s “Hip-Hop Saved My Life.” At first listen, I must say this album is worth the wait, she collaborates with the likes of Carly Simon, Lupe Fiasco, Bob Dylan, Black Thought, Carole King, and Burt Bacharach (really though). AOL is offering a free stream of the LP, after you see I was not exaggerating about its’ quality, you can purchase it here.

She opened for Train and Maroon 5 at the Molson Amphitheatre on August 22…. she has an amazing voice, I am glad to have had the opportunity to see and hear her, I will buy Pennies in a Jar, can’t wait to listen. If you like to hear a good quality, smooth jazz voice, with pop appeal, you can not go wrong with Nikki Jean.
