First Look Friday: Elli Ingram - "When It Was Dark"

Happy weekend folks! Per your regularly scheduled First Look Friday programming, OKP is proud to shine its purplish light on the eternally soulful stylings of one Miss Elli Ingram and her newest visuals "When It Was Dark" for this week's edition. Elli first struck gold with her stellar (and now viral) rework of Janet/Kendrick's "Poetic Justice" last year. A new year brings a new flavor for this young powerhouse vocalist with ambitions of grandeur in the broadening left-of-center spectrum.

"When It Was Dark" is a haunting romp of R&B elegance with a bit of sonic dirt thrown in the mix to show it's root in the funk of yesteryear, still giving us just enough nuance in its production to show its forward-mindedness. Its Dilla snares and buried church organs brought to a feverish peek with the powerful build-up of Elli's croon. Elli's single and follow-up to her Sober EP will be dropping on March 14th on Island Records and it's geared to make waves on both sides of the great big pond. You can watch the stirring visual treatment for "When It Was Dark" below, but be sure to keep your ears to the ground for more from the UK's new leading lady Elli Ingram.
