In the spirit of Throwback Thursday, we share this newly-unearthed Nas and Akinyele mixtape appearance, freestyling and trading bars on their "Live At The BBQ" routine while the song was still brand new. DJ Johnny Wishbone is a childhood friend from Corona, Queens. In our high school days, I happened to be at his house and he tells me AK is going to bring Nas to the hood, to drop a freestyle for his next mixtape. "Live at the BBQ" was new it wasn't recognized as the hands-down classic that it turned out to be. Lucky me: right place, right time. I remember making sure that I had a cassette tape to capture the moment.
