Even if we are “working from home” on President’s Day, you will still need sounds to get you through the rest of the week, when you are trying to get 5 days of work done in a 4-day week. So the soundtrack to your week officially starts here! Of course the only officially Presidential mixtape is POTUS Barack Obama’s Spotify playlist. And, as our dude Mick Boogie pointed out: “Everyone was describing [it] as a mix. Well, it wasn’t.” UNTIL NOW. Yes, Mick Boogs and homie Terry Urban have mixed the tracks from the infamous playlist into an actual “Obamify” mixtape, and here it is (stream or download below):

Mick Boogie + Terry Urban X POTUS = Obamify

That is just the tip of the iceberg in a week that included mixes from DJ Premier, Fullcrate & FS Green and Gordon Voidwell. In the spirit of Mixtape Mondays, we have assembled them all in one place for your streaming pleasure (<–sounds dirty but it’s not). Get started after the jump.

Full Crate and FS Green – Mixing January 2012

Dutch DJs/producers Full Crate and FS Green had a monthly mixing series that spanned a full calendar year in 2008. Several of these mixes have managed to remain in my mobile playlist since then, which is, as the shelf-life of my playlists go, an eternity. Skip ahead three years and several production projects later (their joint Eggs and Pancakes beat compilation, Crate’s Golden Glasses, to name a few). Lucky for us, they decided to get the old band back together. FS and Crate are back to burn with some sexy, electro-soul for 2012 (tracklist at bottom).

DJ Premier – HOT 97 “Black Fist Fridays”

As a tribute to Black History Month, HOT 97′s Mr. Cee has been hosting “Black Fist Fridays” every week in February. If nothing else, it serves as a convenient excuse to tune in to commercial radio. This past Friday, DJ Premier was the guest of honor. He delivered a signature set of classic and/or forgotten hip-hop and soul joints; everything from Jungle Brothers ”The Promo” to Jeru the Damaja‘s “The Frustrated Ni**a” (which features what may be my favorite Richard Pryor sample in hip-hop) to a few Sly Stone joints and even U.T.F.O.‘s “Ya Cold Wanna Be With Me” (yeah, we said forgotten). In case ya missed it, we didn’t. Download link below. And BTW, this Friday’s guest is Q-Tip.

Or stream from the Black Fist Fridays page, which include’s Questo and Pete Rock‘s recent sets. Mr. Cee also put down a Whitney Houston tribute recently, stream/download it here.

Gordon Voidwell Malcolm XXX McLaren Mix

Speaking of Whitney tributes, Gordon Voidwell dropped this mixtape on us just before his; the always-talented Mr. Voidwell doing the synthfunk thing he does best. Download via his site below (don’t let the graphics scare you, just click the XXX’s for the DL)

(That’s it. Come back next Monday for more).

    Pathetic with that Obama-love.
Hes out there destroying communities, destroying currencies…and destroying lives.

oh my B. I had the silly notion in my head that hip hop was a vehicle for political messages, no matter the stripe.

I was just pointing out the irony of the image…his head floating around all of the cliche catch phrases that defined his candidacy…yet couldn’t describe his presidency. Way to continually go ESTABLISHMENT okayplayer.
