Sid Ford - "Gil Scott-Heron Birthday Tribute"
Today marks the 44th anniversary of the birth of Gil Scott-Heron. DJ Sid Ford has compiled a mix of some of the legendary poet and singer's jazzier sides. Though it's not filled with more familiar cuts like "The Bottle" or "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," Sid Ford's mix plucks some of Heron's less obvious gems like 1975's "Offerings" and 1977's funked-up "Under The Hammer" and puts them in the forefront.
