OKP Premiere: Midas Hutch (AKA FS Green) Serves Up A Retro-Funky Remix Of Bando Jonez's "Sex You" [Video]

Midas Hutch Sex You Remix Video

When Okayplayer's Mixtape Monday served up the latest All Good mix from FS Green, it was only the tiniest of looks into theAmsterdam-based producer's new, inspired funk stylings. Now, under the pseudonym Midas Hutch, Franklin Samuel Green has readied a batch of remixes that showcase not only his knack for emphasizing the best features in others' work, but also seem guaranteed to set dancefloors aflame on both sides of the Atlantic ocean (and beyond). His latest release is a gritty and joyful remix of Bando Jonez's boudior ballad "Sex You."

Propelled by a pulsating drum machine beat, clever synth fills and a bass tone that sounds like it came straight from a Donna Allen deep cut, the Midas Hutch remix of "Sex You" trades in the original's smoky pretense for an air of kicked-back '80s fun. It's the kind of cut that's guaranteed to set the club at ease as it pairs Jonez's libido-driven vocals to just the right amount of zany handclaps; the end result that is sure to bring a smile to the face of the one you desire.

Midas Hutch/FS Green is not only dropping the remix today, but also shot a simple, elegant video to accompany the tune, which you'll find the world debut of below. In the clip, a scantily-clad woman puts on Midas's record, lights some candles, and awaits the arrival of her lover, who clearly is hip to the message she's conveying. The whole concept was born out of Hutch's love of '80s electro-funk, and the producer told Okayplayer that "often, when you look for disco records on Youtube, you'll find videos of someone filming their record player. That's kind of the inspiration for this video." Sure enough, the visual's as true-to-form as the music that's married to it; looks like the Midas Hutch can turn modern r&b into tasteful throwback-funk gold.
