Masta Ace
Though some might argue that he never left us, Masta Ace has been making serious comeback waves with his highly-rated MA_DOOM project Son of Yvonne. The veteran MC is clearly just getting warmed up in terms of his plans to reconquer the rap world in 2012.
Expanding on the deeply felt and expertly told, coming-of-age-in-the-hood story that is the heart of the Son Of Yvonne album (dedicated to Ace's mother--read his Okayplayer interview for more) Ace has announced that he will be remixing his classic album with fresh instrumentals and new guest features. Producers and guest features are still to be announced but we're told that more info will be ready to share very soon.
In addition, Ace will be creating a new webseries from footage taken on his iPhone during his sold out summer/winter tours. The series will document "how far hip-hop has taken him" and will be narrated in the artist's own words. This series will span the last 2 years of Masta Ace's life, and will definitely provide a new perspective on the man who has given us so many classic albums and songs over the years.
Okayplayer will be working closely with Ace's team as an exclusive media partner and host for the release of both the remix album and the iPhone web series, so check this space soon for more details and goodies.
