M.I.A. with Danja

Last week superproducer, hitmaker and former Timbaland-protége Danja dropped an unreleased M.I.A. record titled “Doobie” (just in case you haven’t already figured out Maya’s favorite herbal remedy) apparently produced in 2007 – around the same time her single “Bad Girls” was also recorded (despite not being released into ubiquity until 2012) via his Throwback Thursday video series. Featuring signature Danja system-banging production and M.I.A.’s singsong-y vocals, “Doobie” isn’t a re-invention of the wheel but is still a quality release in the same style as other work from her catalog. The track itself doesn’t start until the 2:34 mark, but watch the rest of the video if you want to hear Danja talk about the making of the record while driving around Los Angeles in his truck below.
