All black everything, indeed. Lupe Fiasco has unveiled the artwork for his forthcoming Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Part 1 and it turns out that the inky black square that has been seen as a place-holder on iTunes is in fact the official album cover; no words, no images, just black on black. I was never up much on “Kick, Push”-era Lupe but have to say he is really kick/pushing to another conceptual level with his current approach, from the sideways lyrical attack of “B**ch Bad” to the conceptual sugarwater endorsement to the minimalist artwork. If nothing else got to love the fact that Lupe’s got me downloading and resizing a square of black pixels (or is it no pixels? Philosophical debate starts now!) like it’s something to see.
ALSO, on a related note, Food & Liquor II is now available for pre-order here in digital, physical and deluxe editions.
