The song that caused all the controversy just got a video. Straight from its 106 & Park debut to youtube, here is Lupe Fiasco with “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free).”  Wasalu has some strong words on the ways of this nation and the cost of freedom with this first single off Food & Liquor II. I think the sample issue has been discussed ad nauseam at this point, what y’all think about the actual song and video? Vid directed by Alex Nazari. Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1 will be out September 25th.

Weak video. This concept has been done ad nausea. First by the roots in ‘what they do’. Don’t mess with troy with some trite banal raps.

Is this ground breaking? NO …. Is it tight? YES
Lupe flexed his muscle on a classic joint and didnt fail … but by no means does this have the strength on CL’s classic verses

Lupe is a top emcee, he’s actually sounding similar to Black Thought in a couple spots on this jam. His abilities as an emcee are superior, and he has been a Top 25 emcee since Food and Liquor dropped back in 03′(?). As a fan, you can’t knock him, because he’s still coming hard –and is polishing his craft with each attempt, although they always seem effortless because that’s just how good Mr. Fiasco is.
