Lorde Covers James Blake's "Retrograde" & Maimouna Youssef Covers Lorde's "Royals"

Lorde covers James Blake's "Retrograde" live in-studio for Aussie radio station Triple J's Like A Version series. The live in-studio performance follows a recent cover performed in New Zealand for the home crowd. Her choice to cover Blake's track makes a lot of sense, considering their aesthetic similarities. The performance follows her massive showing at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards where the breakout single "Royals" won her trophies for Best Pop Vocal Performance and Song Of The Year. The song is still making the rounds as artists cover Lorde's massive hit. The latest cover is an empowering rework from Maimouna Youssef that plays like a sequel to Esperanza Spalding's "Black Gold." Check the footage below to watch Lorde's rendition of "Retrograde" live in-studio on Triple J. Scroll down to peep Maimouna Yousef's cover of Lorde's "Royals."
