Little Dragon sightings have been few and far between in 2016. Of course there were those high-profile features on some of the summer’s hottest releases (De La Soul’s And The Anonymous Nobody and Kaytranada’s 99.9%,) but it’s been a minute since we’ve actually seen r&b supreme futurists.
Recently a Los Angeles’ crowd proved to be more fortunate than the rest of us, as they were treated to a rare live performance from the Swedish four-piece, who pulled all stops and no punches with a very purple tributary, covering Prince‘s Purple Rain smash “I Would Die 4 U” against an electric backdrop. Needless to say the sentiment was outmatched only by the sound itself, propulsive and emotive, taking few liberties, but shining bright when they did. The performance was captured by the pristine lens of the ever-intrepid razorstarzz (who has plenty more eye and ear candy their Youtube page.)
Watch as Little Dragon put one up for His Purple Majesty live and direct from LA in the clip below. Hold tight for their next transmission, hopefully arriving as the follow-up to their 2014 release, Nabuma Rubberband. Only time will tell, though.
