M.I.A. recently announced that she’s done recording her new album, and it’s looking like she’s getting real anxious to share it with us. M.I.A. recently hosted a Periscope stream to give fans a preview of the music and to take questions from her supporters. In the clip she makes it clear in no uncertain terms that she “would love to leak [the album]” but in hopes of maintaining her labels backing she’s refraining.
my songs on this album are pretty non-offensive, and if they get offended by this, then I give up and I’m gonna go back to saying whatever the fuck I want wherever I want to, even on Periscope. I can put a beat on every day and just chat over it.
The other piece of news coming from this is the announcement that the album will no longer be titled Matahdatah (and she doesn’t know what the final title will be yet). She also gives us a preview of a new song “Finally” throughout the broadcast. The best listen to the new track starts around the 4:20 point. Stay tuned for more news on her as-yet-untitled 5th studio album.
