Limited Edition J Dilla Turntable To Include 7" Vinyl With Nas & Madlib

Just in time for Christmas a J Dilla themed portable turntable has been announced from Rappcats.

Appropriately called the Dilla Turntable the product is an official release from the estate of James Yancey, and comes with an exclusive 7" vinyl single of "The Sickness."

The track, a collaboration between J Dilla and Nas (and produced by Madlib), originally appeared as a bonus track on this year's The Diary.

The Dilla Turntable's artwork was created by Mason London and functions as a standalone record player. The device also includes built in speakers, three operating speeds (33 RPM, 45 RPM, 78 RPM) and more. The turntable also offers the ability to record music right into a computer (using an included transcription software disc).

The total package costs $120 and will begin shipping on December 10.

In other recent J Dilla news Amp fiddler, the man responsible for gifting J Dilla an MPC and helping him hone his craft as a producer, just unveiled a trove of unreleased demos and backstories from a then 17 year old Dilla.

Also on November 22 The J Dilla Foundation will be releasing a children's book on the prolific producer and rapper, with his mother Ma Dukes narrating the audio version of it.

"I want to tell you how very happy I am about the first series of my children's book titled The Life Story of J Dilla," Ma Dukes said in a statement. "It's been an amazing quest for the Foundation as we gear up to support the education of youth by inspiring them to pick up an instrument and enhance their creativity and learn to appreciate the arts. This book can be enjoyed by the very young, as an audio is also available. It's an example of striving to be all you can be and working hard to achieve ones goals in life."
