Texas bluesman Leon Bridges strikes with yet another retro soul treatment in his latest single "Smooth Sailin'" off the highly anticipated major label debut Coming Home. Much like other offerings we've heard from Bridges over the past few months, there's an instant recall to the early years of Motown & Stax with a voice that lays somewhere between Marvin's silky croon and Sam Cooke's more guttural howl and a look that will have you asking what year it is. Bridges makes cool, calm and finely calibrated soul music to fall in love to and if our introductions to him have been any sort of indication as to what the album may hold, then we'll all be in for a treat come June 23rd.
