Lee Daniels (award-winning director of Precious) and Hugh Jackman have combined forces and are apparently hard at work with film Orders to Kill, an alternative story of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. With Daniels directing, Jackman is set to star as William Pepper, the controversial attorney who argued that killer James Earl Ray in fact did not shoot MLK. The story line will follow Pepper over the years as he emphasizes Ray’s innocence and tries to convince Memphis that other forces–up to and including the U.S. government–were at work behind the Rev. King’s 1968 shooting. The project is being produced and financed by Millennium Films.
