Lee Bannon – Gnarlon Brando’s Midnight Noir (Instrumental LP)

While we’re on some progressive instrumental album ish, here’s a free (and very dope) one from Lee Bannon, Gnarlon Brando’s Midnight Noir. 11 free tracks off that experimental hip-hop sound from the Sacramento producer, stream and download it after the jump. Don’t sleep on this dude, definitely one of my personal favorites behind the boards.

What’s so progressive about this? Because there are little skits/interludes? The mix itself is not acceptable for a commercial release. Also, the thing that is killing so-called instrumental hip hop that’s promoted here and pop music in many ways is that there are no progressions, chord changes etc. like in jazz. These “instrumental” releases are just “beats” that loop/repeat…nonsense

Fuck no. Same ol step sequencer bullshit with boring ambient samples slapped over it. No thank you. No swing.
