LargeUp Event: Better Mus' Come NYC Premiere At Lincoln Center [2/16]

Jamaican director Storm Saulter--perhaps the hottest filmmaker working in the Caribbean right now--is bringing his debut feature Better Mus' Come to Lincoln Center tomorrow for it's NYC premiere and Okayplayer's channel partner LargeUp is the official media sponsor (naturally) with Mr. Vegas performing (serious ting!) and radio legend Dahved Levy playing host. Generally being touted as the best film out of Jamaica in decades, Better Mus' Come has already taken 1st place in a few film festivals before even touching down stateside. Here's what LargeUp said about it:

A landmark in Caribbean filmmaking, Better Mus’ Come is a striking recreation of the infamous Green Bay Massacre of 1978. Tackling a major turning point in Jamaica’s history, when rival political factions mobilized street gangs and turned a national election into a bloody showdown, it’s the first authentic period piece to bring Jamaica’s sensitive history to life on the big screen. Featuring breakout roles from Sheldon Shepherd (seen last year in Puma’s memorable “World’s Fastest Band” ad campaign, with his band No-Maddz) and model-turned-actress Nicole Grey, Saulter’s striking evocation of 1970s militancy has earned his debut feature comparisons withCity of God that other indelible classic of Jamaican cinema, Perry Henzell’s The Harder They Come.

But don't take their words for it, watch the trailer (above) and LU's exclusive interview with Storm at his crib in JA (below). Then cop tickets from Lincoln Center or go to LargeUp for your chance to win a pair of free tickets. But act fast--an by fast, I mean Usain Bolt--because winners are being picked at 7pm today! And even the pay-money kind of tickets are going quick (flyer with full details after the jump).
