Yeethoven: An LA Orchestra Melds Kanye West's 'Yeezus' w/ Beethoven's Classic Works

You know, as much as I'd like to think that the world has seen and heard enough Kanye reworks to last many lifetimes over, every now and then a new take on his catalogue surfaces and flips that notion on its ear. Case in point: as part of the Young Musicians Foundation, LA's Debut Orchestra embarks upon what may be the single greatest musical juxt we could imagine, blending Beethoven's classic works with Ye's aggressively-industrial sixth studio album, Yeezus.

On April 16th, Debut, led by conductor Yuga Cohler and arranger Stephen Feigenbaum, will perform this seemingly nonsensical musical mash at LA's Aratani Theater in Little Tokyo for the righteously low price of free as an installment in The Great Music Series. And to warm you all up for the musical mayhem they're getting ready to unleash, Debut has shared a clip of what appears to be rehearsal footage, which is available for you to see down below. At first ear, it does, in fact, get to difficult to decipher just where Ye ends and Bee begins, but that's exactly what Debut is striving to prove; that even though they may come from wildly different canons at wildly different times, their distaste for modern musical conventions are simply uncanny in their similarities.
