Kool & Kass - "Arrested Development" video premiere

You may remember in our last class we learned that Kool A.D. of Das Racist fame and Kassa Overall of overall fame are Kool & Kass when they’re together (they’re each a movement by themselves, but they’re a force when…etc.). Okayplayer is proud to premiere their latest joint effort “Arrested Development.” The video is directed by Slack Barrett, who uses lots of bold color and lots of bold cuties to frame Kool & Kass and in spite of the title it seems to have nothing to do with everybody’s favorite sitcom from the early 90s. It has lots of other stuff going for it, though, including a moodily perfect beat and Kool & Kass’ now-trademark flow of easy, smart-ass rhymes. Or in their words:

KOOL & KASS ARE PEACEFUL SOLUTIONS, A SYNCRETIC SUPERSOUL THAT HARNESSES THE MAGNANIMITY OF THE PACIFIC AND ATLANTIC OCEANS THROUGH RAPS THAT MERELY SOUND LIKE THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE BUT ARE IN FACT BOTH ASTRAL AND SOUTHERN HEMISPHERIC IN SPIRIT AND RHYTHMIC NATURE

Maybe we’re biased cause we recently discovered firsthand that Kassa’s mellow bugout of a persona is 1000% real (he’s especially funny when surrounded by people in orc costumes and joker make-up and shit) but these two cats have gotten so consistent with churning out lazy, soulful, intelligent hiphop that they are quickly moving from the easy-on-the-ears stack to the absolute-must-listen stack (do youtubes stack?). In fact I am just gonna tag this one “Arrested Development” so all those ironic stoners out there googling “Arrested Development quotes” will find this instead.
