OKP Premiere: King Mono & Jesse Boykins III Tap Into The Future Funk w/ A Trippy Animated Clip For "Pet Peeves"

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

King Mono is funk for the future, plain and simple. Nowhere is this more clear than the chaotic appropriation of off-the-wall Heavy Metal animation in the clip for their latest single "Pet Peeves" off the forthcoming Bump In The Night LP, which will stand as their debut full-length piece on Tummy Touch Records. The duo -- comprised of BK via Kentucky producer Little Shalimar and Antibalas alum Jeremy Wilms -- pair the madness of their synthesized, 8-ball boogie with the skull-crushing psychedelia of a cult classic film and the haunting refrain of fellow BK mainstay Jesse Boykins III, making for one intoxicating and potent audiovisual blowout. Well, if that's your thing anyway. The electric duo's debut Bump In The Night LP will be arriving February 3rd, adding yet another blazing testament as to why Shalimar and Wilms are being tapped by everyone from Run The Jewels to TV On The Radio. If you've yet to get with funk-fortified frequencies these two are dealing, check out their Straight To VHS EP on Bandcamp today. Watch the tripped-out visual for King Mono's "Pet Peeves" below and hold tight for all of the sights and sounds from this formidable new presence in r&b and funk's ever-expanding grey.
