Kendrick Lamar Hopes To Stomp Out Gang Violence With Newly-Designed Reebok Sneakers

Taking a stand against gang violence--indeed, any and all violence, has been a cornerstone of Kendrick Lamar's career. One need look no further than his impassioned speech at last weekend's Essence Festival, where Lamar paused everything to speak to a young fan in the crowd, asking that he focus on school, family and religion to stay out of trouble. From the somber warnings of "Sing About Me" to the rallying self-love cry of "i," the end of violence has been a starting point for the MC, and now in a new collaboration with Reebok he's only made his hopes more clear.

Early images of Lamar's long-anticipated Reebok Ventilators made their way online via a French sneaker site Tuesday, and what's immediately visible is a continued call for peace. Red and blue colors get equal love in the new kicks, and a quick peek behind the tongue reveals the word "NEUTAL." The kicks are adorned with Kendrick Lamar's own scribbled signature and, of course, the TDE logo, but its the subtleties that ring loudest, and no one will be able to don the new Ventilators without becoming a walking billboard for peace and compromise. The sneakers will retail for roughly $142 and be available for purchase starting July 18th. Check out a few more photos of the Kendrick Lamar Reeboks below.
