Kendrick Lamar - Good Kid, m.A.A.d. City (LP art)

The only thing better than words like ‘Kendrick Lamar featuring Dr. Dre on a track called “Compton” (produced by Just Blaze)’ is a song that delivers on the promise of those words (don’t make me write another artist/title haiku off this mf!). Amazing how a little talkbox takes Just’s American Gangster-isms straight to the Pacific Ocean in a 4-minute flight. And amazing what a track like that can bring out of the world’s two most-watched Comptonites. Listen below and in other Kendrick-related news, get the newly-leaked tracklisting for his forthcoming LP good kid, m.A.A.D. city (after the jump).

It’s nice…but I expect more…no knock to Blaze, but why couldn’t Dre put someone on like himself who could throw a little more of gang bang boogying shit in it. Blaze throws a little taste in there at the end… they could’ve spread that more throughout the song.

agreed. i love the hell out of kendrick’s early stuff, but all his new stuff is sounding dangerously streamlined.

He’s still doing his part. But the beat is cheesy, hook is weak and Dre should stay stopped when it comes to rapping.
