Kendra Foster, Queen Of The Vanguard, Shares Bubbly Solo Single "Promise To Stay Here"

D'Angelo Took The Apollo To Church On The 1st Night Of The Black Messiah Tour [Recap]

As a writer and co-pilot on D'Angelo's first album in 14 years, Black Messiah, Kendra Foster helped usher in one of the most anticipated projects of a generation and was handsomely rewarded this past February when the album took home two Grammys. Today, after months of splitting time on the road with D & The Vanguard and P-Funk, Foster has stepped up to the plate to deliver a potent slice of funk that is uniquely her own on the swooning, slow-burn of  "Promise To Stay Here."

According to Billboard, the track came to Foster by way of Kelvin Wooten (a producer and musician whose credits include Raphael Saadiq, Musiq SoulchildAnthony Hamilton and plenty more of the Soulquarian guard) who dug into his vault and found a bubbling funk ballad that could only be blessed by the delicate and melodic rasp of Foster; herself an integral component of soul music's new front. Hear Kendra Foster's immutably funky new song "Promise To Stay Here" down below and hold tight for her next transmission as she readies her new album. You simply won't want to miss it.
