Kemba Puts Things In Their Proper Perspective w/ "The New Black Theory"

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Though NY lyricist YC The Cynic recently changed his name to Kemba, the young brother is still that emcee who refuses to mince his words and continues to bring meaning to all his bars. Kemba makes this abundantly clear with his new single “The New Black Theory” (yup, that’s Raven Symone in the artwork). On the Frank Drake produced track, Kemba takes aim at the idea of ‘The New Black’ popularized by Pharrell Williams. The NY emcee neatly summarizes up the tracks artwork as such:

A portrait of the oft tone-deaf, oft-offensive, torch bearer of the New Black theory Raven-Symoné.

Well said, sir. Look for this track to appear on Kemba’s new album, Negus, which is set to drop on July 22nd.
