Kelela & Le1f Link On The Ghostly Cut "OICU"

Kelela combines forces with Le1f for a spooked one-off special with the release of "OICU." Loosies have been a staple for the DMV-native vocalist this year, having appeared on Kindness' latest jump-off "World Restart" just last week and Tink's "Want It" a few months before that, but today we're getting graced with a new, explicitly hazy cut for the heads to get with. The deceptively sophisticated P Morris-produced offering commences with a booming low-end and whispers of Kels's vox floating beneath the cut, while the flamboyantly brilliant Leif unleashes an affectionate auto-croon, leading us into a haunting refrain.

All of which are treated with a trap-tastic drum program and swirls of sunken industrial synths. Kelela's debut mixtape CUT4ME has been in our ears for months now and if you've yet to do so, it can be copped via iTunes today. OKP' ears aren't the only ones ringing with the lo-fi soul of the left-field's leading lady, as she's currently sharing a cover with another r&b darling for Wax Poetics. Stream and download her eerily intimate collaboration with Le1f below and be sure to grab a copy of the latest WaxPo or subscribe to get a year's worth of music-geeky goodness.
