Kaytranada's "Hot Jazzy Belle" Gets A Rework From Mr. Carmack

Kaytranada's track "Hot Jazzy Belle" gets a rework from Okayplayer SXSW-featured beatstar Mr. Carmack. Kaytranada, born in Haiti and bred in Montreal, has always worn his international influences on his sleeve. But as he teams up with the Hawaiian producer Mr. Carmack his previously soulful and catchy--albeit, glitchy--sound matures into a much more lively affair than what the original track offered. The track's delicate piano and subtle bass are enhanced with intricate bells that surround Mr. Carmack's new, speedier beat.

After dropping his 8-track EP, Kaytra Todo, Kaytranada offered himself as a talented bridge between the trap-dominated world of contemporary hip-hop and the ambient sound of EDM, but he hasn't rested since releasing his refreshingly surprising EP. In fact, he's (thankfully) been flooding soundcloud with both remixes--from artists as established as Mobb Deep and relevant as Disclosure--and straight beats; it's safe to say the rising artist has been busier than ever.

The same can be said for Mr. Carmack. After killing his SXSW set and securing #1 best-selling album on Bandcamp for both his Bang, Vol 3 and Life/Death EP, his march towards stardom shows no signs of slowing down. Carmack has laid out seven laidback, rhythmic tracks in just one week on his soundcloud, each offering the listener brief glimpses into the relaxing island life that informs his sound.

As we leave winter and rapidly approach the dog days of summer, it's comforting to know the cool collaboration of Kaytranada and Mr. Carmack will offer us a portal to better, if not more tropical, world.
