Over the weekend, media mogul Karen Civil opened up a computer lab in Haiti.

Civil, who is Haitian-American, donated 20 computers and opened the Live Civil Computer Lab at House Of Hope Orphanage in Titanyen, Haiti.

In addition, a set of headphones for each computer was donated by former VP of Marketing at Beats by Dre, Dre Omar Johnson. Vans also pitched in by giving a new pair of shoes to each of the school’s students.

The opening of the computer lab featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Speaking about the donation, Civil said:

“Each year I return to Haiti, I hope that whatever I bring, contributes to the betterment of these students for the long term...In 2017, all students must have access to computers and other updated technology. It impacts the speed in which they can complete their homework, how quickly they can access information online, and improve their typing and reading skills. I want them to be given the same opportunity other educated youth are given in different countries."

The plan is for Karen Civil to keep on adding to some of Haiti’s educational institutions each year.
