Kandace Springs Melts Snow On "Thought It Would Be Easier" [Video Premiere]

Premiere: Kandace Springs Returns w/ Soothing Notes On "Thought It Would Be Easier"

It's been some time since we caught up with the lovely lilt of one Kandace Springs. Over the last few years, Springs has ascended from newly-signed Blue Note vocalist to household, assisting Ghostface Killah on his 2014 hit "Love Don't Live Here No More," which landed her a Tonight Show debut alongside the Shaolin assassin.

On June 24th, Springs will release her debut album with the heavyweight jazz label, Soul Eyes, with contributions from the label's copious jazz cats. Today, we bring you a visualization of the new single "Thought It Would Be Easier," expanding the tradition's already boundless nature with a soothing, rhodes-soaked lament, captured pristinely in Capitol Records' studio. Watch the new video for Kandace Springs' "Thought It Would Be Easier" down below and learn precisely why she got the symbolic stamp from our dearly beloved Prince who memorably said, and we quote:

“Kandace has a voice that could melt snow” - Prince

And we to that we can only add: "...because it's pure sunshine." No wonder the dearly departed musical divinity invited Ms. Springs to join him for a recording session in the paisley fortress up north. We're told by the people at Blue Note that "Prince discovered Kandace on OKP and championed her, big thanks to you guys." Which just goes to show you never know what good will come of it when you share a little sunlight! --and if you couldn't already tell we are extremely proud to be a footnote to the origin story of this rising superheroine. Pre-order your copy of Soul Eyes on iTunes today ahead of its official release.
