Watch John Mayer Perform "Love On The Weekend" w/ Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan on 'The Tonight Show'

Last month, John Mayer pulled the ultimate bait-and-switch on us. After months of teasing a groove-based r&b record on Instagram and Snapchat (clips that would make even the most devout Mayer haters on the planet do a double-take) this dude turns up with “Love On The Weekend”; a clear grab at his “Wonderland” fans with, if nothing else, a fantastic Tom Petty interpolation.

Last night, Mayer brought “Love On The Weekend” to The Tonight Show (on a weekday) to test out his new single live and direct. He was joined by right-hand bass man, Pino Palladino, and drummer, Steve Jordan, who helped craft his 2006 stunner Continuum. No date has been set on John Mayer’s new record, but if Pino and Steve are in the mix it’ll certainly be something to keep your head on a swivel for. In October, Mayer joined D’Angelo and The Roots at the first installment of Roots Picnic NYC, jump back to revisit that stellar moment. Watch him debut “Love On The Weekend” on The Tonight Show down below and hold tight for his next transmission. Pick up your copy of the single on iTunes today.
