John Legend sets the bar high with "Roll, Jordan, Roll" - the lead single from the soundtrack to Steve McQueen's heavily discussed film 12 Years A Slave, which chronicles the life of Solomon Northup. The soundtrack entitled Music From And Inspired By 12 Years A Slave is led by a track steeped in tradition and the tenor of the period in which the film is set, as Legend lends his rich vocal to the jubilant text of the time-honored negro spiritual with a stunning a capella performance. The single - one of two John Legend recorded for the soundtrack - lands ahead of the full project, which is slated to drop on November 11th. The soundtrack from Sony/Columbia Records also features contributions from composer Hans Zimmer, Alicia Keys, Cody Chesnutt, Alabama Shakes, Chris Cornell and Gary Clark Jr. Take a listen to John Legend's rendition of "Roll, Jordan, Roll" below.
