J.I.D. has been a name in the know for quite some time now. If you haven’t heard about the Dreamville signee, he has been a focal point of J. Cole thanks to his unique and alternative style that differs from what else is going on in Atlanta.

With his debut project, The Never Story out today, J.I.D. is ready to show the world his style and panache. The ATLien sat down with DJ Kay Slay at the SiriusXM studios to show off a bit over the Nas classic club-banger, “Oochie Wally,” and attack it with the hunger of a black grizzly bear looking for an elementary school.

Clocking in at three minutes long, J.I.D. attempts to explain his wilder-than-average lifestyle to his mother, bodying the track in the process.

“Put the whole world on my back, cracking my clavicles
But it don’t really matter, I’m coming back from sabbaticals
Got my nine cocked, Simba standing on Pride Rock
Popping a couple shots at the eye of a Cyclops
We don’t fight bops, put that boy in a pine box
Call it a time stopper.”

Impressed by his rhyme ability, we are looking forward to seeing + supporting J.I.D.’s future. You can do the same by watching the video below + cop or stream The Never Story which is available on all digital platforms today.
