Jesse Boykins III x MeLo-X - Zulu Guru [Album Stream]

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Earlier today, OKP posted some remixes from Zulu Guru duo Jesse Boykins III and MeLo-X. If you're anything like me, you've exhausted those tracks and the others we've introduced in the last few months. And now you're thirsty for more of that methodical mess of sound this duo is producing. You're itching for the release of Zulu Guru on October 30, and can't wait anymore. You don't have to.

That's right! The album stream is now available via Billboard.com. While I was busy posting those remixes earlier, Jesse and MeLo were busy uploading and sending the album out for your listening pleasure. Based on an initial listen, I'm already with agreeing with claims that this is one of the strongest album releases of 2012. Each song is a journey of its own, with rises and falls and plateaus culled to produce masterful pieces of music that leave me in envy, like "Damn, why didn't I make this?" This album is a culmination of genres -- everything from spoken word, to electronic-soul, to afrobeat, to dancehall, to reggae and hip-hop. In so being, this album dodges classification in favor of just being good music.

Take your time with the production, the songwriting, the surprises -- all products of travels of two American-born artists with their eyes and ears on the world. Travel with them through the musical landscape they've blueprinted here. Let us know which track eats your cake after listening.
