Jesse Boykins III x Mr. Green Turn Miami Into Music For Bacardi's 'Live From The Triangle' Series

So Jesse Boykins III and Mr. Green get to take a field trip to JBIII's hometown of Miami to make music, dance salsa and play dominoes with old Cuban cats in little Havana and explore both the semi-tropical canals and semi-wild graffiti galleries of unseen urban Florida. It's all part of this new Noisey-produced spot for Bacardi's Music World: Live From The Triangle series, wherein selected artists record ambient sounds in their travels around "the Triangle" which are then used to produce an original track. Yes, that's "The Triangle" as in "The Bermuda Triangle." And yes, that means the next installment of this series we can expect a cool artist will get to go to Bermuda or Puerto Rico to explore, lime with the locals and make inspiring art in the most inspiring of settings. All of which begs the obvious question--I could play, too? No, but seriously--where does one apply for this job?

Well, if these two artists are any indication, the answer is: you apply by being on your artistic grind for years and years with no tears. Boykins is, by this point in time, a well established force in r&b music--a risen star, so to speak. But dedicated Okayplayers will also know that Mr. Green has been turning spontaneous street happenings into art for some time as well. (In fact, real-deal-Holyfield Okayplayers will know him from his long history of collaborations with Malik B, MC emeritus of The Roots). So, in short, these two creators were born for this assignment and it shows out in the final product. Mr. Green has alchemy in his drum-pads; morphing splashes, domino slaps, foot stomps and Afro-Latin percussion into a rhythm track that allows JBIII to truly connect with his feelings about his birthplace in a transporting vocal. Watch it all unfold below in Music World: Live From The Triangle, Part 1 and prepare to get psyched speculating about what might happen in Parts 2 & 3--Collie Buddz anybody??
