Okayafrica Video: Jesse Boykins III x MeLo-X — "I'm New Here" / "Better For You" [Short Film]

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

If you still haven't heard Zulu Guru from soul brothers Jesse Boykins III and MeLo-X, allow the rich visuals of Dr. Woo to serve as your introduction. Both Boykins and MeLo consistently bring thoughtful experimentation to their craft and they delivered no less on their first collaboration album. With cameos from Street Etiquette bloggers Josh and Trav (you can often find them close by when Boykins and X perform) and Mara Hruby, JB3 and MeLo-X seem to be building a family around their 'schwaza culture' ethos. Our channel partners at Okayafrica posted the short film that chronicles the musicians' travels in South Africa and Equatorial Guinea and it offers the perfect complement to their new age sounds. Check what they had to say below and hit the link to watch the video:

For months on sweet-hitting months Okayplayer had the Brooklyn duo’s experimental soundscapes on repeat. Now after traveling throughout the source of the album’s inspiration, the pair released a short film capturing their moments spent in Africa.
