Jay Z Will Headline This Year's Meadows Festival In Queens, N.Y.
Festival season is upon us, Okayplayers, and this latest news adds more fuel to the fire that somebody is coming out with a new album this year.
The eStreets are buzzing since word on the curb is that Jay Z will headline the second annual Meadows Festival, which will take place in Queens, New York at Citi Field from Sept. 15 to 17. Joining Hova the God on the top of the marquee are Gorillaz and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
TIDAL is, of course, going to be the official livestream partner of this event, while tickets for the three-day fest go on sale this week (May 10) at the Meadows’ website. With the claim of “the best food vendors in New York City, captivating street art and more aural delights,” the Meadows Festival seems like it’ll be just one of the few places to be during festival SZN.
Recruiting some of Queens’ top artists for a homegrown set, the second annual music extravaganza will also feature legends such as Nas, LL Cool J, Action Bronson and Heems (Swet Shop Boys) representing for the borough. Meanwhile, Run The Jewels, Future, Migos, M.I.A., Big Boi, De La Soul, Ghostface Killah, Joey Bada$$, TV on the Radio, Tegan and Sarah, 21 Savage, Sleigh Bells and more will be performing as well.
How does this bode for Jay Z potentially releasing new music?
Well, people are saying that the Brooklyn icon is in “album mode,” seemingly armed with new music in the chamber. So, his festival appearance at here Made In America and Austin City Limits appears to be an attempt to make sure that the people hear whatever it is he’s cooking up. Or, he could possibly just be chasing those festival headliner checks? Whatever it is, it is a chance to see one of the best to ever do it, do it well on the grand stage.
