Kellindo Parker may be one of the strongest forces in r&b you've probably never heard about. As the guitarist and musical director for Janelle Monae, Parker (who shares a bloodline with sax legend Maceo Parker) has been an integral component to one of the tightest, sharpest bands in the game, not to mention having graced many of our favorite cuts with his six-string axe. Today, however, he steps out with what appears to be his first solo offering with the breezy alt-r&b specimen "Summertime," treating fans to a brilliant oceanside score to help savor these final weeks of warm weather.

And while there doesn't appear to be anything in the works on the Funky Android front, Kellindo's cut should do more than hold you over until the next drop. Hear his solo debut "Summertime" down below and if you're looking to catch Kellindo Parker live and direct with Miss Monae, make sure you're front and center at this weekend's Summer Spirit Festival in the DMV, where they'll share the stage with the likes of Erykah Badu, The Roots, Jill Scott and more. Hold tight for Kellindo's next transmission.
