Janelle Monáe's 'Electric Lady' Album to Feature Prince and Miguel

Janelle Monáe has announced that her upcoming album The ElectricLady will include collaborations with Prince and Miguel. In her forthcoming Billboard Cover Story, she speaks on how lucky she feels to have worked with Prince (who we all should be listening to today as it is his 55th birthday!) In her interview, she comments on the legendary musician:

""We are great friends, and he is a mentor to us, to me. It's a beautiful thing to have a friend -- someone who cares about your career, and wants to see you go far and to push boundaries and shake up the world -- give whatever they possibly can to the cause. It's not every day that he collaborates. I'm honored and humbled that he trusted me. He is forever my friend, and I am forever indebted. I can't say too much else about it."

The record will also include a duet with the leg-dropper himself, Miguel. Together, they supposedly take the "ooh" section of The Pixies' "Where is My Mind?" and place it over a futuristic funk groove. Called "Primetime," the track is sure to be a hit considering both artists' fan-base. The album also includes Janelle's hit collab with Erykah Badu, "Q.U.E.E.N." Be on the lookout for more information on The Electric Lady as the September release date gets closer.
