With SXSW in full swing, it is all about the music and the artists we love making memories for us and others. Last night, Jamila Woods, who is absolutely one of our faves, held the audience at the Mazda Studio at Austin’s Empire Garage in the pal of her hands as she debuted a brand new song called, “Giovanni,” which you can watch below.

The emotively warm stroll through a summer breeze-filled beat is impactful and imbued with Jamila Woods’ signature soulful sounds. “There must be a reason why / There must be a reason,” she croons as the enthusiastic group of audiophiles sway from right to left. “I’m so nice, so nice / You can’t not smile when I smile / And I cry, I cry / It’s just the rain so I can grow,” Jamila sings, showing her brave face in the midst of agonizing pain.

The event was put together by Stereogum who also featured the New Pornographers and Hand Habits during its daytime showcase. There’s no word what “Giovanni” might appear on, but we will keep you all in the loop as more develops.

Until then, please check out Jamila Woods’ new effort, “Giovanni,” below and if you haven’t heard her debut full-length, HEAVN, please do yourself a favor and listen to it immediately.
