Biggie Smalls throwback! The almighty DJ J.Period presents "Spread Love" (Cool Out Remix) - the latest single to surface from his #MARCH9REVISITED remix series tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. The single follows the release of the third and final installment of the critically acclaimed B.I.G. remix series from J. Period and 1200Squad.com, which dropped at the latest anniversary of the legendary Brooklyn MC's death on March 9th. The project follows the #MARCH9 Vol. 1 and #MARCH9 Vol. 2 releases from J. Period and DJ G. Brown. The single from the latest project, which was designed to reimagine Biggie's time-honored verses against a variety of new and classic sounds, finds one titan paired with another as B.I.G.'s lyrics pepper a dope chop of The Isley Brothers' "For The Love Of You." The sample gets a booster shot of percussion and a syrupy thick bass line to match the cool lazy afternoon vibe of their classic 1975 love jam. The creative license taken in the construction of the rework places an interesting spotlight on B.I.G.'s lyrics, with heavy emphasis on the foremost Bucktown commandment to - above all else - spread love; the refrain serves as a timely reminder to reinvest in the philosophy, which also stands as a founding mantra of hip-hop culture.
