Soul maven India Arie (India.Arie if you are typographically nasty) just released SongVersation, her first album in four years, and has been promoting it around the country in preparation for an upcoming fall tour. On a recent stop in Dallas, India performed live on the Tom Joyner Show to give us a taste of the album's lead single, "Cocoa Butter." Turns out she has an official endorsement from Palmer's Cocoa Butter brand, so that almost makes the weird product placement in the video okay...but either way, the song itself is smooth and in true India Arie fashion, it makes me want to sway just a little and smile when I listen to it walking down the street. In addition to singing "Cocoa Butter" and chatting about the new album, Ms. Arie performed the 2006 anthem "I Am Not My Hair" in the Red Velvet Cake Studio for a bit of a different feel.
