BK based genre-killer Illmind (!llmind) drops a free instrumental tape for all you purveyors of the trap arts with his #BoomTrap EP. It's a quick eight-track dissertation in how pervasive trap textures --synthy arpeggios, 808s and claps, rolling hi-hats and the like--have become in the last decade, and it strives to keep pushing the boundaries that isolate this southern brand of funk from the rest of the pillars. #BoomTrap obscures the lines of this forbidden pleasure of hip-hop so that even those with the blandest trap tastes can connect the dots between this body of production and that of some of the biggest hits of the year.
