Stream Drummer George "Spank" McCurdy's Funktastic Effort, 'Circa LXXXI'
If you’re unfamiliar with the name George McCurdy, you’re OK, we won’t hold it against you. It is probably because you’re more familiar with the name Spank or Spanky, as the native North Philly drummer has toured the world as a well-versed drummer who has worked with the likes of Sean “Diddy” Combs, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Nas, Q-Tip and Timbaland to name a few.
Now, the world renowned drummer and up-and-coming producer has dropped Circa LXXXI, a collection of 11 songs showcasing the tight work of this musical wunderkind. Armed with a unique array of musical mastery, Spank’s dynamic style, on and off kit and his command of melodies make him one to be a fan of. A standout cut that we feel you would appreciate is “Moonlight,” which you can hear here or below in the stream. Rooted in gospel, dripping with funk and soul, Circa LXXXI should be digested by one’s ears immediately.
