Now in its sixth year the Full Moon Festival has made a name for itself as one of New York's best summer music festivals, offering attendees performances from up-and-coming and well known artists, and local culinary delicacies.

For the time since its debut the event has expanded to two days, with 10,000 people expected to attend this weekend. Considering the stacked line up — which includes Santigold, Pusha T, SBTRKT, Kali Uchis and Lolawolf — it's understandable why this year's Full Moon Festival is the biggest one that's been done thus far. Prior to this one the festival has had Dev Hynes, Charli XCX, Cyril Hahn and Miami Horror.

Inspired by Thailand's all night full moon beach parties the Full Moon Festival prides itself on creating a certain experience that's different from its contemporaries Panorama or Governor's Ball.

"I think we've always looked to the energy of the full moon — people are down to just get a little weirder on a full moon," Max Pollack, one of the festival's founders, told Billboard. "The bacchanalia and freedom of the Thai Full Moon parties was inspiring, as was the idea of doing a festival on a beach. To do that in New York City, and to infuse it with its aesthetic, fashion, and curation…how cool would that be. That party spirit is really important to Full Moon still and that vibe is contagious. At this point, we're much more inspired by international parties and festivals in general — from Calvi on the Rocks to the beach parties in Bahia and the Mediterranean."

The Full Moon Festival will be happening this Saturday and Sunday at Governor's Island. Tickets are still available for purchase through the festival's website.
